BOOKS & ME
Suzana Pezo Sommerfeld
I started writing as a kid. At 10 years old, I began to write a diary and wrote almost every day for many years. At 16 I wrote a book of poems, which till now was never published.
Maybe because I was so much an obsessive reader to consider myself a writer.
As a teenager, I read a book a day and if a book was exciting, would continue to read it the whole night till I came to the end. And then go to the school in the morning. My mum used to say: "Your nose is always in a book, will we ever get a chance to see your face!"
This love for reading and books has never left me. I am still a book lover and collector.
Since one of my loves is drawing, I am drawn to picture books which tell the story as much as words as with illustrations
A good rhyme is like a fun words-game, it makes me giggle.
Putting it all together, as in the Steve Jobs quote, I guess writing and illustrating a children’s book in rhyme was always in the stars, or in the dots, for me.
„You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.
You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.
This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life."

I am a mother of a boy, and we live with our wonderful dog Fujima. During all the years with my son, I have collected a great number of adorable children’s books, focusing especially on those with quality illustrations.
I dreamt of writing and illustrating a children’s book myself. Finally, one boring rainy summer my son and I spontaneously started developing the idea. And this is how it began, our story about the Boxing kangaroo was born. My first children’s book! COMING SOON
MY (OTHER) BACKGROUND
My educational background is in fashion, and graphic design. Upon graduation, I worked as an art director for the fashion and advertising industry before moving to Switzerland and founding my design studio, Designeers GmbH, and the children’s brand, Leggybuddy.
After several years of entrepreneurship, I felt I needed to upgrade my skills to take my business to the next level. In 2018, I graduated from an Executive MBA program at HEC Paris with a major in the luxury industry.
